Here’s how I color melt most of my guests. Root melt: I drop it a little lower towards the back (1 1/2”) and then do less from the ear forward. Mid tone: if I want a mid tone or if I need to do more corrective tone. Sometimes I’ll do a warmer tone in the mids because it is freshly lifted. Ends: the lightest shade and some times I do more ashy to tone out any old brassy blonde. I also usually up my developer to 9 vol to really drive in the tone. Always use @domdomhair wet brush to melt it all tog

Do I ALWAYS root melt (when doing lived in color)? ➡️ WHEN I ROOT MELT: 👉🏼 If I need to erase a line of demarcation 👉🏼 If I want to blend or cover grey 👉🏼 Personally, I choose to root melt 99.9% of clients (because I love the seamless end result it gives!) 👉🏼 If I’m going to root melt I usually do the weaves a bit heavier for more impact ➡️ WHEN I DON’T ROOT MELT: 👉🏼 If my client is adamant about not wanting a root melt 👉🏼
